Who We Are

Backstory
I know the author of this blog really well. We’re very close. In fact, you could even say that I know him better than anyone. You guessed it! I am the author of this blog. False Love was my brain child, and as such my life experiences have created a blog focused on false loves. Who am I? I grew up in St. George, Utah. I am the youngest of four children. I have always strived to follow the example of my older brothers, who live exemplary lives. They have had a profound influence on me. In fact, in some ways I grew up too quickly. I wanted things, like relationships, earlier than normal. I do not blame my brothers. They were only acting like ordinary 15 and 17 year olds. I just wanted to be big like my big brothers. I wanted to want what they wanted. Combine that with curiosity, and I was certain to find things I shouldn’t.
The Struggle
I have now been recovering from pornography for years. I don’t think anyone ever wants to be addicted to something. I believe that people have struggles and, more importantly, they have needs. I recently read “The 5 Love Languages'' by Gary Chapman, and honestly the concepts in that book are life changing. According to Chapman, everyone has what he calls a “love tank”- like a gas tank. Our hearts are like engines that run on fuel, we call love. Love in this sense being affection, belonging and worth. Our engines don’t all run on the same fuel. He claims that there are five common “fuels” that everyone can understand. Reading this book has truly opened my eyes, my mind and also my heart. I believe that I am so much more compassionate and understanding for having opened myself to learning these things.
The Take-Away
As I stated earlier, everyone just has needs and sometimes they turn to the wrong sources to meet those needs. My hope is that False Love will contain some tid-bit of information that will help someone. Every single day I am learning more about loves, true and false. Please join me in this journey of discovery and reach out with any ideas! Everyone deserves a full love tank, even if that means changing how we think and how we experience the world.
